"Yo waz di scene", my name is Kerwin Trim and I hail from the twin island republic of Trinidad & Tobago. Below are a few pictures of Trinidad & Tobago.
I am captivated by the world around me and enjoy exploring different interests whether they be technology related or not.
These interests include cybersecurity, software engineering, video games, movies, football(Futbol) and most recently Muay Thai. Currently, I am a Drexel graduate student and work as a Jr. Incident Manager (fancy term for a Junior Analyst).
Before arriving at Drexel, I attended the University of South Florida where I pursued a bachelor's in Biomedical Science. I once had aspirations of becoming a doctor, but as time passed I realized it was not the right path for me. After graduation I wondered what my next step in life may be. Through trial and error of trying a variety of activities from digital marketing to programming, I realized the Technology industry was right for me.
A main reason for this was Technology satisfies my intellectual curiosity in the same manner that medicine does. For instance, I would always marvel at something common as a website in the same manner as a pharmaceutical drug pondering on the inner workings of both items. On the surface, these respective products seem simple due to their ease of use but the planning and technologies used in both cases is not straightforward. Beyond this comparison, however, the thought process behind creating effects in a website that would ultimately define the user’s experience of an entire product always captivated me.
As a result of this, I created a few websites through the use of WordPress. Through this, I was not only able to design and create but also, I had the freedom to write and convey powerful messages to my visitors. As excited as I was, my cautious nature kicked in where I wondered about how damaging it would be if something I created would be hacked and all my hard work would go down the drain. This led me down the never-ending path that is cybersecurity.
By being consistent and motivated, I recently completed a major milestone from a beginner’s point of view by obtaining my CompTia Security+ certification. In future blogs, I plan to share my experience preparing and taking the exam. I will also share timelines & study plans of what I think will be effective for various individuals. Beyond that, I intend to share things I am working on, platforms I may use and other activities relating to technology.
